I agree with this to the point we are forgoing our usual prime rib bullshit and getting a Peking Duck from the Asian market this year for New Year's. Should be fucking kino, those motherfuckers know a duck.

That should be irrelevant. I absolutely will judge an establishment based on the condition of their menu. If you get one and it's filthy, it means that you should leave promptly, or barring that, order certain foods you know will reduce the likelihood of foodborne illness, since an unclean menu says "we can't be arsed to clean the thing we give to our patrons, hope they never see the abysmal state of our kitchen."

Seriously, like, you can go to Costco and get hundreds of Clorox wipes for 10 USD that will wipe all that grime and filth off and it never gets done at some places.

Every meal fundamentally is the following:

Starch + Vegetable + Protein

A sauce is optional.

===========================

If you want to save money, learn where to shop for what. You will not save money going to one store. Hit up ethnic markets but be aware that even the MexiMart may have more expensive tortillas than Kroger. Keep a mental list for the best deal.

Go to a used thrift store and buy a Good Housekeeping book from the 80's. Those editions with thousands of recipes are best.

============================

Learn to hunt and fish, even if for small game. You want to impress a girl? Fresh seafood you caught, or a pheasant roast will make her pussy wet if she was raised right (e.g., by God fearing parents of stock).

Because Chick-Fil-A actually has some standards for employees. They typically hire half the high school near me, they actively refuse to hire adults which I think is the way it should be. If you are an adult, you shouldn't be fucking flipping burgers and they should cap the wages for those jobs at like, 6 USD/hr and tell minimum wage activists to fuck off. It's pocket money for teens who need job XP. You don't have a right to live by flipping burgers any more than a waiter does by bringing food they didn't actually cook for me.

Same, especially when they start getting shitty with me about extras. Oh, 50 cents for extra ranch? I'll argue with you for a full minute just to amuse myself.

>Managers were mostly bearable but did generally have a stick up their ass at the same time.

I mean, the cream of the management crop isn't going to manage a fucking McDonalds. I learned that lesson working at a grocery store. The guy was making like 40K a year to manage the entire store and I was like, no wonder this guy is an asshole, he's a loser who can't manage to get a better management job anywhere else.

It's shit like this that makes me legitimately surprised people don't just whoop their manager's asses and walk out. This is just soul crushing. I could see this shit at a tech startup where there is actually some cohesiveness and culture, but Walmart?

Your glass was tempered and NOT borosilicate glass.

Older pyrex is borosilicate, which is the same shit they used to laboratories who rapidly heat and cool the glass. But it is pricey. You can't really buy it new without paying premium, but you can find vintage items at flea markets and thrift stores.
