Cincinnati has two major things. One is goetta, a sausage made from ground pork, oats and a variety of spices. The other one is this, Cincinnati Chili, which has been posted here before with "do Americans really", and it looks about the same way in as it does out, and receives mixed reactions through the entirety of the nation. Why?

Because Cincinnati chili is not normal chili. It is closer to Greek and Macedonian dishes which involve ground meat seasoned with cinnamon in a tomato-based sauce (the tomato doesn't really come through, the spices do). The fact it's called chili means that everyone freaks the fuck out, because this clearly isn't chili. But it is absolutely delicious, a flavorful, complex, rich meat sauce.
