free range chickens live in cramped sheds with hundreds of other chickens, they just get a tiny fenced in outside area to walk in occasionally. the male chicks literally get tossed into a meat grinde rminutes after being born and the female chicks have their beaks ripped off by a machine so that they don't peck each other to death from the stress of their hellish existence

i dont give a fuck if chickens die in the woods to predators. its not my place to go in the woods and kill an animal or to capture and enslave an animal for their 'protection'. they can live their own life and have their own existence doing whatever they want
