the 80s anime was pretty shit in a lot of ways, not that now is too much better mind, but nostalgia goggles seem pretty prevelent and /a/ is retarded so., as for /v/ theyre pretty much correct the early 90s, and a little in the 80s had the most varied and experimental games you could imagine, this did mean a lot of it was crap, but it wasn't crap like cawadoody was crap. it was all crap in very unique and different ways which lends itself into kind of traits of endearment almost, like how people still cling to flawed editions of D&D like 3.5

not much of a music buff, but in terms of food?
well thats pretty easy, around 1700+ food started to evolve fairly rapidly due to the explosion of availability of types of food. it was also around this time when the idea of TASTE started to catch on

believe it or not food back in the early eras taste was not an important issue, that is, precious little is said on the nature of the taste of the recipes that where indulged at the time, despite widespread popularity. food back in those days was a show of power and entertainment, and it was more important that it was unique and interesting than what it tasted like. very little if anything is said about the taste of such foods.

as for when foods hit there best. right now they are pretty much at their best. a lot of people will harken back to the ages of old, weather its for greasy spoons dying out to fast food or less corn syrup and shit in everything, I can't really condemn modernity for the sake of a few sacred cows. the food back in the 20s forward was all delicious and inovative, but multicultural food and authentic access to a veriety of delicious food was dying out for a more homoginized experiance, the new stuff caught on too well, and became so common, nowdays mcdonalds and bros dominate, but there are far more shops and nooks and grocerys and such things filled with exciting and unexplored food options for many.

sup japan bros. I'm making a bunch of skewers with seafood as meat. things like scallops and such, I'd like to know what would make a good sauce if any to use on typical japanese seafood skewers like squid skewers and such.

I need to have this by tomorrow morning but I can wing it if you guys don't have any ideas.

TL;DR: what are some badass sauces or glazes for seafood skewers

Katsuo furikake is the best and anyone that says otherwise is tasteless swin....
jesus, and I thought other people where bad..
yknow what OP, try em all and see what you like. just whatever you do, don't forget to pan fry a hot dog, and top it with mayo, okonomi or katsu sauce, and your favorite furikake

youll want to do this.
then get some okonomi sauce, onions or cabbage, japanese mayonnaise (its in a mustard like bottle for easy spreading.) and some katsuofurkikake or bonito flakes. assemble with the dog on bottom, the sauces in the middle and the cabbage on top. or if youre concerned about spilling the cabbage on the bottom. for extra umph pan fry with something greesey like butter.

meh, our hotdogs are good but theyre not worth the money, i'd rather break out the katsuofurikake and mayo at home than shell over 4 god damn dollars for one hotdog.

This

also this whole thread is a troll thread
Come on guys
Japan only doesn't do super sweet bullshit, they make liquor, beer, have amazing pork dishes in all kinds of veriety, donburi is excellent and harty, not every meal has to be 和食, but I gaurentee you'll probably live longer if you have one once in a while, Japan is actually the only place I've ever been where I was served salad for breakfast and it was good, the greens tasted good, the tomatoes where amazing, sweet, and didn't taste slimy. the only complaint I had was the milk wasn't cold enough for me. (Japanese people don't really like cold drinks for some reason) Soba is amazing and varied, there's all kinds of veriety of soups, and all kinds of stews and gently cooked meals, Okonomiyaki, and other grilling savory meals are plentiful and easy to make, they definately have great fish. OP's idea that Japanese food is bad is clearly trolling because he has such as stereotypical view of what Japanese people always eat, like they have no veriety, and everything is bland. Clearly this guy has never had a flavored egg out of a piping hot bowl of tonkatsu or other noodle soups. Not only that, but their toppings and sauces go great on a ton of american food to boot.

Don't just pick one thing, try a veriety, unexpected counter intuitive ingredients go great on hotdogs. try ethnic sauces and toppings from various cultures. try different hot dogs, try making your own sometimes, hot dogs are wonderful, I don't know if it makes me straight for liking them so much but hot dogs are almost as democratic as a sandwich. if youre running low on new ideas, check out Wikipedia page on the various kinds of hotdogs regionally
