OP you are fine. any restaurant that hires a pastry chef without checking his credentials probably just expects you to unwrap things and occasionally microwave them.

i'd bring a few boxes of assorted krispy kreme with me, and if any orders seem difficult, just substitute kreme and wait for the compliments to the chef to roll in, not just because of the kremey deliciousness, but also because of your daring creativity.

most great chefs are daring, and not quite a few started out in your shoes.

you should try these while you still can. most of the other things shown are not very good, but these are delicious.
