Also, I think these things were 10 cents a box.
Dinosours were 25 cents IIRC.
These were an acceptable substitute if the $5/week allowance was running low.
Really hard to juggle comics and candy on that budget. Especially when SSoCtB was sold at a premium rate. But it did have lots of violence and boobies, so... Yeah, hard to balance.
Epic Magazine and Heavy Metal was adults only, so they had to be cleverly shoved up the sleeve of your coat. Not sure why SSoCtB was less scrutinized for adult content.
