I'm only used to shitheaded indie devs, speedrunners, and networking people, so it's easy to generalize "frame" as "one cycle" or at least "whatever can change in the smallest unit of time the software has between cycles"

even speedrunners and indie shitheads who aren't quite too shitheaded will differentiate between a visual frame and an actual frame where appropriate, sorta like how there's pixels and then "subpixels"

no they don't not even indie studios like those people. i've worked with some, in fact, they're all like this: lazy, haughty, self-centered, unwilling to cooperate, and unwilling to learn or even double-check documentation. and very bizarrely unwilling to ever write comments or consolidate/modularize code.
