Zenzai is a soup made from adzuki beans (also known as sweet red beans). The beans are cooked and simmered. Then you add in raw mochi and eat the soup. It's common for people to make Zenzai during Tsukimi. Also known as the Moon Festival. The Japanese make it because in Japanese folklore, there are rabbits on the moon who make mochi.
