It's legit if you mean a great source of protein, vitamins, and that they can be safe. People don't do it anymore because salmonella risk. If you have your own chickens you should have no issue. My chickens rarely leave me eggs with shit on them, and they come out covered in mucus that keeps pathogens out anyway.

In the US eggs are required to be washed, exposing them to potential infection when the mucus coating is removed.

I eat what I think tastes good. I eat fast food when (guess what?) I need something fast. I'm not big on refined sugars, so soda and candy are rarely a part of my diet. I like ice cream, but again rarely eat it. I wouldn't say my diet is "healthy" by any of the standards, but for me eating enough food to keep from being hungry is a challenge- another reason I rarely eat out: it costs me too much money to get full.
