I bet this would taste really good with some mustard.

They're likely still making a decent-ish profit on it.
Keeping in mind that this is likely to be bought by cunts on the way back from the pub, it's also a good way to use up things that might have been sitting in the heated display cabinet for a while.

A chip shop will pay around £8 or so for a 25 kilo bag of potatoes, so the cost of the chips is pennies.
The sausages will cost about 10p each to make, the onion rings are about 5p each, the hamburgers about 15p each, the pizza about 40p. The biggest expense I can see here for the chip shop is the fish, which they might have to pay nearly a couple of quid for.
They're likely able to put these out the door for about £3.50 all in, including overheads.

Before I became vegetarian, I would always order my steaks to be cooked 'trop cuit'.

Usually the waiter wouldn't know what that was, but I would just tell them that the cook would understand.

When I got them, they were usually just well done.

Only once did a chef come out to see me about it, and he ended up telling me to fuck off out of his restaurant and go for a burger instead.
