French here, I've been to america once and to be honest your waiters don't even let you eat in peace.
They were trying so hard to get a tip, they were constantly coming to bug us with some bogus question like "is everything ok?" (they asked us that 4 times in the meal, not counting when they were actually needed for picking up dishes and bringing the bill) and replacing our water broc everytime it was half empty.
You'd think if they are trying to get a tip, they'd try to be pleasant but they were invasive little cunts.
I left 5 bucks because the american friend that brought me there paid for the food and told me he really wanted to tip, but I'm glad I don't live here.
