they have a kraft "american" cheese now that is a proper colby sliced relatively thick and blended with cream cheese

it's the 12 or 16 stacks of individually plastic wrapped singles you don't want unless you are just making the most basic grilled cheese

My supermarket has started selling this stuff branded as "American" cheese. It's Colby with cream cheese added in. It's fairly hard like a cheddar but more mild in flavor than normal colby. I am wondering where /ck/ thinks it fits on the american pasteurized process cheese continuum
