Well, you wouldn't wanna eat shrimp, crab, or lobster either, if they were skittering around underneath your refrigerator, or lived in sewage.

In the same vein, if grasshoppers are farmed somewhere sanitary, then eating them doesn't seem like the worst thing. It's hardly new; lots of cultures in East and South Asia eat bugs. French people eat snail. Our ancestors almost certainly relied on nutrients from bugs to one extent or another.
