Given that they're aliens, and they might subsist off of barium, or some shit, I would first ask them what their favorite desert is, because I'm pretty damned sure this ain't Star Trek, where almost everything is humanoid and food of differing planets is pretty much interchangeably edible, if not still revolting due to cultural differences simply for comedic relief and in that hot alien in a mini skirt sort of way.

If they deny me that, I tell them our best desert is something that is laden with obviously fast acting, or at least lethal, poison for them. If they're all dead, they can't kill us. Of course, that would have to be readily apparent about them (helmets, breathing apparatuses, protective suits, whatnot) or already known.

If that's a no-go, then I tell them that the most delicious substance on Earth is deez nutz.
