Don't like what you see in the box - lose out on returning customers. Of course, if the food is prepped prior to packaging e.g. wonky carrot, peeled, washed and made into carrot sticks for the meal that would be different.

A lot of these meal prep kits rely on 'freshness', 'variety', and 'saving time'.

The eco-factor that they try and push is probably more fallacious then they'd care for you to dig deeper and understand.

As >>12218109 pointed out already the study saying it would 'reduce the carbon footprint' of your average shopper is complete hogwash based on some extrapolated middle-class no-nothing kidult who does not know how to plant their time or shop properly.

Further, I would question just how applicable this 'study' is when you compare places like the USA (drive everywhere because of living in the suburbs, mega-stores, and stores being fucking miles away) vs Europe where that is not the usual set-up.

It comes down to consumer habits at the end of the day - there is nothing superior about the meal kit scenario other than promoting absolute laziness and stay at home couch potato attitudes to life.
