Yea, I totally agree with this. Food and drink do tie strongly with memories, I've got tons of nostalgic junk foods that evoke good childhood memories when I have them. Happy meals, star kiss popsicles from Dairy Queen, chef boyardee pizzas, pringles, cheese puffs, breakfast cereals, all are bringing back good memories. I mean really though it wasn't the foods that made me happy, it was the time and place and people I was with. The foods just illicit the emotional response when I have them. And like I said I'll still have some cake and soda at the birthday parties and icecream or pizza for a good report card, I just won't be keeping this stuff in the house where it's constantly available. They are treats, treats aren't meant to be had every day. I know in the end mine will be much healthier and happier than I was. Just gotta keep an eye on them when I take them to the grandparents place, I swear going over there is like being able to graze freely at a corner store.
