They burn your coffee, no matter what kind you use.

They heat up the whole thing. Just because you pinpoint heat a bit of the plate that doesn't mean that heat isn't going to be distributed throughout all the liquid. You'd need to isolate the liquid you're heating if you wanted to even attempt this, and you fundamentally can't because you need more liquid to pour in.
And I'm using the word liquid instead of water because the brewed coffee just falls back into the sea of water, gets burned and circulates again and again. It's a horrible brewing method. If you're this lazy just us a mr. coffee or equivalent.
