>half of this is blatantly wrong
I would absolutely love for you to try to disprove anything I said. Let's take a look at 95% of the scotches reposted in /wsg/ and see who their owners are, shall we?

LVMH (French):
Ardbeg, Glenmorangie

Diageo (English):
Johnnier Walker, Talisker, Lagavulin, Caol Ila

Beam Suntory (Japan):
Laphroaig, Ardmore, Auchentoshan, Bowmore

Pernod Ricard (France):
Aberlour, Strathclyde, Glenlivet, Scapa, Lomond, Chivas

Remy Cointreau (France):
Bruichladdich, Octomore, Port Charlotte

Distell (Africa):
Bunnahabhain
Glenblair

Emperador (Phillipines [lol]):
Dalmore, Jura

That enough for you, faggot? Wow, sure are a lot of authentically, wholly-owned Scottish companies in that list, huh? And you really believe international mega-corporations aren't going to cut corners to fulfill the obligation to their shareholders?

The majority of barley is imported through Port Ellen (owned by Diageo), 80-90% of which is foreign import. It is germinated and malted onsite at Port Ellen. As for the barrels, check the websites of any scotch brands and find me a single one not made with American, Spanish or French oak, I dare you. Caramel coloring is not only a reality of scotch production but actually *sanctioned* by the British government - check the regulations yourself. That authentic peat flavor you bloviate about endlessly can comes from Aberdeenshire - the literal other side of the country from Islay. Considering the distribution of peat worldwide, it would be of no surprise to me if this was imported from Eastern Europe as well.

So that whittles down the contribution of individual distilleries to their copper stills, their water and their process.

Please, enlighten me, what have I said that is *blatantly wrong*? That Champagne is not made in Champagne? Or that multi-billion dollar corporations aren't going to dump a fortune into marketing to losers like you?
