You have to use the term "McDouble" in order to get the cheaper version with only one slice of cheese.

If you ask for a double cheeseburger, you get the one with two slices of cheese that's basically $2.

Ever since that McPick2 bullshit they came out with last year, that almost instantly flopped, even the McDouble is well over a dollar.

I was drunk and wanted shit food last week, so I ordered a McDouble and a spicy mcchicken to make a McGangbang.

IIRC, the McDouble was $1.59 and the McChicken was $1.29.

I fucking hate the future.

But like you said, if you ask for a double cheeseburger, they're going to charge you for the one with two slices of cheese. You MUST ask for the McDouble to avoid the extra charge.

And honestly, I think the burger is better off with only one slice of cheese. Since the patties are so thin, too much cheese throws off the taste.
