The CSA i buy from grows the best turnips I've ever had. They're as sweet as a carrot but with a subtle peppery note and no bitterness at all. One day I'm at the farm and she pulls one out of the ground and just starts cutting into it with a paring knife and offers me a slice, and I fell in love and ate the whole thing. Never found a turnip that matched that since, the ones at the store are truly vile and bitter. Just saying that there is such a thing as a fantastic turnip
