Of all the family food issues I could have, I'm grateful I don't have trashy family members who like embarrassing things like horrible flyover chain restaurants or critter wine or having an aversion to vegetables or fake "allergies" to stuff they don't like.

About the worst thing in my family that happened was that my nice went through a picky eater phase which she seems to have gotten over now. It was cause for serious concern among the older people in my family, can you imagine having a kid at the table who won't eat uni, or ikan bilis, or even kimchi? There were fights about this. My brother's wife was widely considered responsible. Luckily those days are over now. But that kind of shit makes you not want to have kids.

Ok in fairness my dad doesn't like white wine, I mean he'll drink it but he legitimately will not buy it for personal consumption. We've discussed this but he will not reconsider. But he grew up in the great depression so I cut him some slack.
