Is soy sauce ok? Like with rice and stuff. I won't be called a soyboy if I use it? What about tofu? I like to have a little bits of tofu in my miso soup. Ah, but miso is made from soybeans too! It's hard being a conservative.

What's your secret ingredient in dishes? Any tips for unconventional ingredients that really boost the flavour of something? Saw a thread like this some time last year but forgot to save it

pic related - I know this is elementary shit and that it took me embarrassingly long to realise that adding soy sauce to stews or pretty much anything sauce/liquid based gives amazing body and umami that regular salt or vinegar can't compete with.
