In 1858, the penny became the smallest US coin, as the half cent had been minted for the last time the year before. In 2024 money, that penny is equal to $0.35. The quarter should be the smallest unit of currency in use. People hate pockets full of coins because they have so little value and they only want to keep up with three or four types of coins, which is why the dollar coin keeps failing. Discontinue not just the penny, but also the nickle and the dime. Then add $1 and $5 coins (none of that gay Canadian Toonie $2 shit). Now you only have three types of coins to bother with.

Product sizes can be adjusted to match up with $0.25 increments. Sales tax is fucking annoying for everyone. Replace it with a tax on gross sales. It's effectively the same thing in revenue for the government but rounding becomes a non-issue since it is on the business's gross sales instead of each customer's individual sale.
