I am not saying it's a clear cut biological function, or a clear cut social/cultural one. I am saying, that, as an instance of where there is a suspect amount of social gays, there are mostly likely a lot of autistic, lonely people who get hold of HRT hormones and become socially gay, for instance.Because they are lonely, impressionable, mentally ill (autistic, depessed), horny teenagers with missing parents and routine.
People who have defective genitals and/or defective androgen production are also prime candidates for gayity, and in that case it's a clear cut genetic issue.
