I live on my own and this is a cheap easy meal I have regularly.

Peel and dice 2 large potatoes and throw them in a pot of water on the stove at maximum heat

then melt some butter(real butter) in a pan at medium heat once the butter starts to bubble throw either a lamb/pork chop or steak in the pan(I buy what ever is on special at my butcher), move it around a bit at the start so it does not stick to the pan and keep cooking it until the bottom half is brown then flip it,

while the other side of the meat is cooking I do some vegetables, I buy frozen mixed veg that come in individual portion sized bags that you throw in the microwave for 2:30 minutes they're called steam fresh vegetable or some shit.

while your veg is cooking check your potatoes by now they should be soft enough to stab with a fork easily if so, drain them add a table spoon of butter and start mashing them(you can do this with a fork or a potato) while adding milk until you like the texture.

by now everything should be cooked and ready to serve up, just add hot sauce.

>tl:dr cook up some ramen noodles
