It's a meme in that obviously it's not gonna make you live forever like it claims, but I do like it. Puts hair on your chest.

To be honest, it seems like a hippy appropriation of Kvass. Which is much more mild and accessible anyway, highly rec.

best Kvass brand?

i'm not russian but i've been wanting to try this as i see it everywhere in the euro markets. i tried it for the first time a few days ago and it seems like something i would enjoy.

I was asked to link some Kvas recipes in the last Slav thread, but had a sudden change in plans and when I came back to the thread it was already archived.

Anyway, I just found this recipe a few days ago, and just tried my result today. It was really good, but this one takes much longer; a few days instead of just a day; as opposed to most that take a day. I found it easier too.

The fermentation is much slower, so do not think you did something if you don't see bubbles the first day.

It's actually pretty good. It's like beer, but sweet and much lower in alcohol (almost no alcohol.)

Step it up. I mean it's not exactly soda but I'd still qualify it as a soft drink since the alcohol content is neglibily low. One of the very few upsides to living in Russia.
