to say the least.

A soda machine, even one of a single flavor, can't even be "filled" with a liquid. It uses a connection to a pressurized water pipe, Co2 gas from a compressed tank, and a container of flavored syrup. There is simply no way to feed a bucket of "soda" into it that wouldn't cost far more money and complexity than anyone is hoping to save.

It could work in a different kind of drink dispenser, like those for non-carbonated beverages like pic related. Clearly your story has gotten highly distorted over time, assuming there was any truth to it at all.
