Does absinthe taste any good?

Tell me about Absinthe, does it really make you feel any different to just regularly getting drunk on other things?

Curious about it but feel its nothing special despite the hype

Bought a bottle of Absinthe.

Gonna make Death in the Afternoon tomorrow.

But today I was just trying it out. I tried a tiny bit neat, then made a louche, which made it quite pleasant. You do that by slowly dripping ice water into it so it turns milky opaque. I'm gonna try the same again tomorrow but drip the icewater through a sugar cube.

It was Moonshiners: Master Distiller S2 Ep4 that hooked me in. Great episode.

Apparently the green fairy is legal to be bought in the United States, but you can't buy it in bars or even liquor distributors. This begs the question, where the hell can you buy it? What places online are trustworthy? For that matter, what's the best brand? It was suppose to be all the rage once upon a time, but I hardly hear about it.

What's good and what's not? Can i drink it neat and in a glass? I've noticed that it rarely gets talked about

What is your favorite type of alcohol and why.

I'm not sure if you guys know alcohol, but I figured this was the board to ask.

I love absinthe, but it makes me fucking NUTS. I stabbed myself and then cleaned a whole bathroom to sparkling while bleeding all over myself through my makeshift tourniqet on the stuff, and another time I dislocated one of my hands by punching a concrete wall as hard as I could. Barely felt it.

I drink vodka, whiskey (which makes me violent but not stupid), beer, you name it. But only absinthe turns me into a rabid animal. I looked stuff up and people are saying there are no hallucenoencis in it, that that is a myth. There's no way that's right, is there?

What are some nice, affordable absinthes to try for a beginner? I'm looking for pleasant tasting, sort of authentic stuff, not shitty eastern European gimmick shit.
