okay thanks, gonna keep my eyes up for quality panettones in bakeries. Found an article where the local baker had trained his staff in panettone baking, so might get lucky there.

We usually eat Christmas bread here, it's similar to panettone but way less extravagant and more subdued. Gonna try to toast it this year, which I have never thought of before seeing this thread.
