Op, take a look at all the mental toddlers and fuckups ITT who make loud gagging noises at beverages that don't fall into the narrow scope of stuff that doesn't challenge them in any way, or use alcohol as an excuse to behave like terrible people. Now imagine yourself in a social setting or an "unofficial" work function that requires alcohol (if you live in the west or in asia it is guaranteed that occasional consumption of alcohol is a mandatory part of being accepted by your peers)

Being an awkward drinker, being an overdrinker, or having childish ideas about alcohol (eew I can't drink that, it's for girls! yuckee! I can't drink that it's too bitter! omg I can't drink that, it's pretentious! vomvom, I can't drink that it's for the poor!) is going to be a social handicap

When you're young it is ok to get sick once or twice and maybe look awkward. Get this done now. I'm not saying go get yourself arrested or go out of your way to be an idiot, but make mistakes, try stuff that seems "weird". Know what drinks are appropriate for which environments (dive bars, nice restaurants, etc)

You do not want to be that guy who makes everyone in the room turn around and start whispering just from ordering a drink, once you're past your mid 20s.

You also do not want to be that guy who makes everyone nervous when you're seen with a drink in your hand.
