Be careful, you'll start experimenting. That can lead you down some dangerous and painful roads. Like this Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper candy.

It was a hit this past Halloween. lol

I finally made some of this stuff.

3 cups white sugar
3 cups water
1 dram of cinnamon oil flavoring
1 teaspoon of powdered/crushed Trinidad Moruga scorpion peppers

Wow, even a small sliver of this stuff stops you in your tracks. It is super hot. Hotter than any candy I've ever had (haven't tried Vertigo candy yet of course.) The candy itself is very peppery which actually overpowers the cinnamon flavoring. The spiciness on the other hand just beats the crap out of everything else and you once it hits you. Making this stuff in my house was like suffering through a SWAT raid and snorting tear gas.

Even though I took the syrup to 320F, the addition of the crushed pepper powder caused the syrup to crystallize instead of staying glassy like previous batches of just flavoring oil. (corn syrup helps prevent crystallization like this in other recipes at around 302F, but who wants that shit?) It isn't as rock hard a candy as being glass-like, but you can still keep it in your mouth a long time.

All-in-all I'm satisfied with the way it turned out. Just in time for Halloween.
