There are alcoholic drinks with every kind of flavor, but ethanol itself just tastes like burning chemicals (until you've killed that part of your palate with repeated use - though the first time you'll likely put down a few shots of vodka without blinking an eye, though whiskey will likely make you gag). Like any drug it will never be as good as the first 4 times you try it, but it will take you 20 something times before you get the hang of it and understand what and how much you like.
