The best value vegetable is cabbage

>1 head makes many, many meals
>cheap as shit
>keeps very well (Chinese cabbages can be left out of the fridge for weeks, and if a layer goes bad, oh well, just remove it and you still have 95% of the cabbage)
>you can pickle them extremely easily just by.. putting salt on them and jarring them
>you can make soup with them, you can fry them, you can roast them, you can add them to basically anything
>very healthy, and especially healthy if pickled

What do you think the most versatile veggie is? Onions are excluded because they are obviously the most versatile when it comes to savory cooking.

I vote cabbage or carrots. I think cabbage goes with more things savory than carrots but carrots are commonly used in dessert too, not just carrot cake so it's a toughie.

What are your opinions /ck/ ?
