This is a dish my grandmother used to make, and I think it's legit peasant food. Pretty much all fat and carbs, but so good on a cold day.

Recipe from somewhere:

Dumplings:

2 eggs, beaten
4 tablespoons (60 g.) butter
1 1/2 cups (170 g.) flour
1/2 cup (1,2 dl.) milk
salt to taste

Soup:

1 1/2 quart (1,5 L.) milk
1 tablespoon (15 g.) sugar
2 tablespoons (30 g.) butter

Cream the 4 tablespoons butter. Add the beaten eggs, salt, and then 1/2 cup of the flour to make a paste like mixture. Add 2 tablespoons of the milk. Then add the remaining flour and milk. B e sure to avoid lumps. Bring the milk, sugar and 2 tablespoons butter to a soft boil. Add the dumplings by dipping a teaspoon in the milk, then scoop the dough, and drop the dumplings back in the milk. Continue this procedure until the dough is gone. Simmer until the dumplings surface. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon to taste. Serves 6.
