They don't know any better because they've always eaten long shelf life packaged garbage foods, they refer to that as "normal food". It wouldn't occur to them that there's even a need to shop for groceries more often because any food that doesn't last 2-4 months at a minimum is considered subversive and possibly Mexican, Muslim, or Liberal.
