Mine prefer rabbit-- The pups, they just eat, the mature ones they bring to me, I check the liver for tularemia, then they get it along with their bowl food.
Nice to know your Kot won't starve if the food supply gets fucked--(it's Coming)
Another good cheap food helper is of course buying basic staples and having a good assortment of herbs and spices.
My go-to now is biglots, since they have good sized spices for a dollar apiece.
Even Dollar Tree doesn't have that anymore.
