My parents are immigrants from the Dominican Republic and to this day they insist on washing meat before cooking. Even after I showed them what the FDA says about washing meat and how it does nothing to kill bacteria that properly cooking won’t. If anything washing chicken risks splashing salmonella water on counter tops.

I grew up thinking it was normal and I get kinda mad when they won’t listen to reason despite the whole internet saying otherwise. They’re old, uneducated, and stuck in their ways. I also learn they overcook every meat pretty much because they’re scared of getting sick. They also wash their red meat with lemon along with water for some reason. Anyone’s else parents so this?
