What's the best way to peel these sumbitches?

Alright, so this is a bit of a weird one.

I'm looking to extract some citrus oil, but not for cooking, nor cocktails, nor essential oil quackery. I'm after that oil because it's readily available in a food I already eat daily, and it's volatile and flammable when in a vapor, which is perfect for a silly project I have going.

I've read a few methods for oil extraction, and cold pressing sounds like a massive pain in the ass if done fully. I'm going to try my own method, as outlined below:

1. Peel the orange, avoiding the white layer beneath the outer layer of skin.

2. Crush the skin in a garlic crusher over a jar.

3. Fill the jar about halfway with water, allowing the crushed out oil and peel to soak for a day or three.

4. Freeze the jar once the oil has separated, hopefully freezing the water beneath the still liquid oil.

5. Poor off the oil.

6. Repeat until I have a fair amount of oil.


Does anyone know if this will work? Or if it won't?
