If you have access to a rowing machine then use that. If there's a sport you enjoy try to play it as much as you can even to the point of joining a club or league. Otherwise you just have to pick something aerobic, like jogging, or anaerobic, like sprinting or even weightlifting (as long as you don't rest too long in between sets.)

If you're brand new to fitness you can't go wrong with couch-2-5k and some bodyweight stuff. It's easy since you don't need equipment (aside from running shoes) and will offer enough of a challenge without being overwhelming.
