anyone have a whisky recommendation similar in taste profile to pic related, but cheaper? i don't always feel like dropping $40 on a bottle. i don't like too much sherry or caramel, just something more neutral and drinkable.

also looking for recommendations for entry-level peaty scotches based on the above info, ideally comparable to glenlivet 12 in price

I'm interested in trying out scotch but I don't really know where to start. Which one would be a good one to try if I've never had one before?

>five extra large ice cubes
>half a cup of water
>full cup of glenlevit
and that's how you make the perfect drink

Good scotch for a beginner? I am really into Bourbon but never ventured onto scotch territory because of price reasons, but I'd like to try some.

Some guys at work into scotch recommended Glenlivet 12 of glenfiddich 12 to start with. I'm probably going to pick up 2 bottles at lunch time today. What does /ck/ recommend?

Can someone help me find some Scotches (probably from Speyside) which taste like The Glenlivet but which aren't The Glenlivet? I like the 12yo but it's time to try something new.

>floral
>fruity (like and crisp, like apples, pears)
>honey

I love my salty peat-bombs (Ardbeg 10) and also my rich, chocolatey sherried whiskys (Bunnahabhain) but now that it's summertime it's time to find a lighter sipper, I think.
