I get like 1-4 free cookies from there everytime I go since my work is right next to one in the same little building. Since I've gotten to know a few of the main people there as a usual they give me the "broken" ones.
In fact, they do this at the Subways on my campus if you're cool enough. Just put a genuine smile on (think of dead babies if you have to) and be cool with the guy working there, or give a compliment to the girl, and ask if they're just gonna throw away that broken cookie (assuming there actually is one).
They can't sell the broken ones anyway.
