I used to frequent a tiny Srilankan/Indian place where they would start making my order right when I walked in, and bring me a pitcher of water along with my water glass.
I miss that place so much.

I used to frequent a tiny Indian place with two employees and four tables (and a small bar), and a similarly tiny Cafe.
They knew me well, gave me perks for being a regular...comfiest restaurant dining I've ever had.

Another curry dish from my favorite spot. I wanted to include it because I asked for a smaller bowl of rice than normal and they obliged. Changes/substitutions are usually refused in Japan, though it helps that this place was run by Sri Lankans.

Every single indo curry shop I've been to in Japan has served both rice and naan. I would estimate 10 to 12, roughly?
I don't know enough about rice to know what kind of rice they served, though. This was my favorite local shop, though. Their naan was pretty meh so I almost always went for the rice.

I can't believe you people. Being a regular is the best.
I used to frequent a curry shop run by some Sri Lankan dudes. After the first few times they realized I always ordered very spicy curry and drank like a fish, so they started filling pitcher just for me instead of coming over to refill my water.
When I brought my family to visit, as I got up to pay they brought out deserts for everyone on the house.
I miss those really nice dudes.

Had my last meal this weekend at my favorite Indian place. I was a weekly regular to the point that I rarely placed an order, since I always got the daily special.
Unfortunately chicken and eggplant is not my favorite, but I always appreciated being surprised either way.
I'll miss it, bros.
