Ehh... that might be true in general, but not in this case. Not only is the variety of breads and liver sausages available much greater in Germany, they generally taste better, too.

Americans who buy Braunschweiger don't specifically want German liverwurst, they want Braunschweiger, and by that I mean the stuff they've known as Braunschweiger their entire lives. They don't care if it's German or not. They probably don't even know Braunschweig is an actual town.

And there's nothing wrong with that. It's not like Germans aren't constantly pulling the same shit when ti comes to "American" foods.
