Here is an interesting fact about coffee, the reason coffee pants produce caffeine is it serves to both protect itself from pests and to attract pollinators.

That's what Arabica coffee, which grows as higher altitudes, contains less caffeine then Robusta (meaning robust) or other low-level varieties. Because there are less bugs/pests to eat the cherries.
