If the wife isn't home, one pot meals. Will end up eating out of the pan to avoid washing an extra dish. Usually consumed standing up, over the stove. Wife constantly reminds me that I'm not at work and don't have to scarf something down while leaning over the garbage can before the next ticket prints.

The other nights, roast a whole chicken with a few root veggies, leftover chicken goes into pasta/burrito/risotto the next couple nights, pretty easy on the grocery bill.

This, and Kiwi brand knives from Thailand. I buy them in the asian market for 3 bucks each and they'll last until I give them away as a thanks to one of my kitchen guys.
