American here. I'm confused about that too. I think it's a matter of what people are expecting.

In my experience American canned beans fall into two categories. The first is just beans. There's nothing else in there except maybe salt. Nobody eats that stuff out of the can, it's used in cooking other dishes as it lacks seasoning. The latter is a seasoned product, usually "baked beans" style, or maybe also a BBQ sort of flavor.

Americans tend to dislike the blue can Heinz because they're expecting a stronger seasoning but they're much milder--sort of in between the two that I described above.

On the other hand, I know the blue heinz beans well, and they are nearly identical to pic related, which is a very common American product.
