Every time I've gone to a Japanese restaurant, the green tea I've been served was actually genma-chai, or green tea with roasted brown rice. Maybe it's that roast rice flavour you don't like.

Try jasmine tea. It smells and tastes like flowers.

I've been thinking of getting into brewing more looseleaf tea. I bought mango coconut white tea at a bulk store and it's really nice and fragrant. My SO got me this mug because I'm weaboo trash and I love it.
