there are huge differences in quality when it comes to sesame oil as well. ALDI store brand feels like a completely different kind of oil compared to yeo's sesame oil. "lee kum kee" is good too and easy to find.

i'll be honest though japanese and korean cooking is really disappointing for the most part.

you don't need much and there are only two brands that are worth it in the western world: #1 yeo's and #2 lee kum kee. literally everything else is trash

this is the best advice I've seen online so far. I actually made great fried rice for the first time ever thanks to him.
the best advice I can give is to get this sesame oil or at least something like lee kum kee. don't cheap out on this and buy some store brand oil. it makes a massive difference and in hindsight I feel like I've ruined every rice dish I've ever cooked with LIDL and ALDI sesame oil
