>every other brand is actually shit in comparison
Sounds like you live in some flyover shithole.

>>11374319
And lemme guess, an Atari 2600 and a Playstation 4 are the same thing because "consoles are consoles", right?

>I cant think of any really prime cuts of pork?
The cuts are not that different from a cow. I.e. the tenderlion is expensive, the shoulder is cheap.

The breed matters a great deal. Compare, an Ossabaw to normal factory farmed pigs. Some breeds can get very expensive.

>>The most expensive thing I can think of is a really good prosciutto
That can get very pricey. Jamon Iberico de Bellota can cost nearly $1000 for a single cured ham. See pic related? Ham shop in Spain. Prices in Euros per kg. Roughly speaking, divide that number in half to get dollars per pound.

>>Is there something like a Kobe steak
Yes, there are high-end breeds of pig bred for flavor instead of "faster cheaper" raised with great care just like "Kobe beef". Ossabaw, Toyko X, etc. In fact, go watch the old Iron Chef episode with Toyko X pork. I think it's up on Youtube.

I think what you posted looks pretty bad.
When done right, however, it's fucking god tier. It's so flavorful that you almost have to consider it a seasoning rather than a primary ingredient of a dish.

I'm betting you've never actually had cured meat. I don't mean supermarket slop. I mean real cured meat. It's among the most god-tier of foods.

You must be used to shitty ham then.

Do you think that ham didn't exist before the advent of the refrigerator? The whole fucking point of ham was that you could cure it so it could be stored for later back in the days before refrigeration.

Some of it is god-tier delicious (pic related). Alas, most of it is factory-produced chemical laden bullshit that tastes nowhere near as good.

>> Is it really increasing my risk of heart disease?
Only the stuff which contains nitrites, which would be "cured" lunch meats like salami. And even then the effect is tiny and only happens if you are eating a lot of it, frequently.

Ham? Yeah, it's god-tier.
That particular shit in the plastic bag? No, that stuff is not.

Pic related is what good ham looks like.
