So today I boiled a pound of pinto beans in garlic, salt, and, chicken stock. But hungry as I am it is still unappetizing. What can I add to make it hardier and more fulfilling?

I was thinking potatoes and smoked ham hocks with onion like lima beans and pork style. But I want to explore my options a bit.

Any other kind of vegetable or meat I can add to make this better? Would it make an okay chili?
